Hopefully someone can help me. We have a small network setup. I have always done Windows updates with computers attached to this network. I went to perform updates on one today and was getting error 80244022. I then had another machine give me the same error. Then another. Then another. I have tried 4 machines all conencted to our network and each one gets the error now when trying to perform Windows updates. My tech who handles all of this stuff is out of the country and i cant reach him.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Ya i tried that and didnt fix anything. Its just strange that all 5 computers i have tried on now are throwing up the same error. With 10 coming out tomorrow, maybe its a Microsoft thing. Is anyone else having issues?

Our shop has plenty of computers doing updates today but I'm sure MS has more than one datacenter. Maybe your datacenter is down or overloaded.

The error code gets alot of posts relating to WSUS and PC being unable to communicate with the server due to invalid proxy setting.

Check internet explorer for proxy.

Or try running: netsh winhttp reset proxy
Restart windows update service and try again

Not sure what part of "My tech who handles all of this stuff is out of the country and i cant reach him." Indicates a tech/tech business owner.... but hey who am I to question?

Could be he has employes that do this kind of work for him. Not every tech/business owner knows everything. Everyone needs a vacation once in a while.

But in defense of oldtech I do see where he could come to the conclusion that it looks like someone who is the "in house" tech person until the stuff hits the fan and calls in the big guns.

Alot of our clients have a "IT Co-Ordinator" type person. They know how to setup users, add users to dist/groups, reset passwords and the harder stuff is logged to us.

I have employees myself but God help me if anything came to a halt because one of them was out of pocket for a few days. I just found it very strange someone who actually works in this business or owns a tech company couldn't/wouldn't google the error for himself instead of coming here. "shrug" I've been informed he's been vetted - good enough for me. Could be I'm getting cranky in my old age :P

Ever thought that maybe im a business owner who had the money and opened the business with a technician and i do sales and marketing but know enough about computers to handle when he is out of town? Also ever thought that maybe our store does more then just computers and I handle lets say the phone or tablet side of things and the other tech handles the computer side of things? And actually i did google the error and non of the things i was finding were that issue. So thanks so much for your un-valuable input, its greatly appreciated.

Here's a thought for you- maybe you could have taken the time to explain the trouble shooting steps you actually took in your original post so that anyone inclined to help you had a clue as to what to look at next, rather than making a post completely bereft of useful information other than an error code, that as you pointed out, has multiple applications.

So let me apologize to you for making a post that has obviously disturbed your life. Im sorry that you have nothing more to worry about then trolling on forums. I sincerely apologize that this is what your days have come too. Have a good day buddy!

Hey it's just advice take it for what it's worth and try to not be so thin skinned. And thank you - first time ever I've been accused of trolling ... but seriously you might want to leave the personal attacks out of conversations in the future. They don't advance the dialogue much. I'm moving on now have a good day. :D Do think about the details when you ask for help in the future on here though.
