Can't log into bank accounts

Have you checked for rookit/dns hijack if they are hijacked chances are that is not their bank site but fake one designed to steal passwords.
How it works:
Machine is hijacked dns points to hackers dns server dns server points to fake bank site it may look real but it's not.
Rootkit hides dns hijack i would try smitfraudfix and check the machine out.

Thanks all for the info on MAC address, but just as easy to throw a NIC in it.

Martyn, their username/password works on every other computer but their own. And my username/passwords works fine on their machine. I think that should rule out keyboard, but thanks.

Rick

Hi Rick

Sorry to disagree but if you have a password for instance with @ or " in it it will work on other pcs but on the problem one you would input the wrong password with a wrong keyboard that was my point :) If they are just using standard characters then it won't apply.

Martyn,

Should have included locations... Her machine won't accept her stuff at her home, or at my shop. Different keyboards. Thanks

Have you checked the cookie policies? Make sure that their computer is allowing cookies, that IE's privacy tab isn't set above Medium. Someone suggested resetting IE back to defaults. I'd try that on the Advanced and Security tabs.

Red,

If you can log on their machine accessing a banking website, issues coming up with their login credentials, I wouldn't replace the machine with a new nic. It's a cookie issue, not a nic address issue.....just realizing the poster before me posted something similiar-:)

Did you delete their cookies, close out the browser, restart it and have them relog on the banking site again? You mention IE 8.0, can you remove that, have them try using IE 7.0 or Mozilla Firefox?

Under Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced, what is the cookie settings set to? Over-ride or not to over-ride?

Please Rick, come back and tell us how you solved it, so I can see if I was right about what I pm'd you on the mac addresses! :D

The customer went on vacation for a bit over the holiday. We've been absolutely slammed (about forty machines in two days) so I took it off the bench temporarily. Will go back up in a day or so and I will be back to report. Thanks for asking.

Not sure if this issue is fixed but their are many times where and incorrect date or time will prevent someone from logging into secure website.

This problem can occur even if you are using UBCD or something like that if the BIOS does not have the correct date.

Check that and see.
