Can you mount a ghost image? Ghost explorer is a pain

Hi all..

I "rescued" a clients hard drive onto a ghost image (long story with many headaches and still going on...)

For reasons I can't even explain myself (her disk when connected to ANY computer (I've tried 3) will always blue screen with 0x0000000a error msg) I was forced to image her disk (When I ghosted her drive to another the "new" drive did the same thing). I created a .GHO image so that I can extract her files and folders within windows, then "dump" them back onto her drive and do a repair install to get everything back to normal again.

Now I figured I could just copy all her directories using ghost explorer. What a surprise to find out that ghost explorer will only extract individual directories one by one. Now imagine me having to do this for thousands of directories from the image.. one by one... mission impossible here.

So is there any way I can Mount a .GHO (Ghost image) so I can copy these files in explorer and properly? Or are there alternative to ghost explorer?

any help would be EXTREMELY Appreciated

Thanks very much,

Majestic

Hold on, I'll take a look.

EDIT:

"ghost explorer will only extract individual directories one by one"
I don't understand what you mean. On my copy of Ghost Explorer I can extract multiple directories at once...

Have you tried mounting the drive on a non-Windows operating system? Also, at my job we mount Ghost images to VMWare LabManager as development environments. It should work for you too.

I haven't used any other VMWare solutions, but after you load the image you can set the network fencing to send and receive traffic and then transmit the files you need, over the network, to your target computer.

It's odd but I can only extract one directory at a time and it does not get the subdirectories necessarily. I'm using Ghost Explorer version 11.

I haven't tried this yet but did come across some blog on it... It seems overly complicated to do it. I recall somebody mentioning you had to build a bartpe cd first and integrate the image into it, etc..

I'll look at this again I guess it's worth it to see.

Thanks
