Can MigrationWiz do this?

I have a client that is changing their company name. They unfortunately have GoDaddy M365, and do most of the meanial things (creating new users, licensing, etc.) themselves and are comfortable with the setup. My 15 minute speech on why they should move was....politely ignored - haha.

Anyway, there are about 15 users, all with emails on the CompanyA domain. They setup a new tenant for CompanyB and setup all users with email addressess on the CompanyB domain, and want all existing email from the CompanyA addresses to be moved to the new CompanyB accounts. They have already setup forwarding so any current CompanyA email gets forwarded to their CompanyB accounts. This means the CompanyA accounts are now static with no new email coming in.

Most all users access their email via OWA since they are largely mobile. They also have OneDrive files, unfortunately.

I would like to avoid setting up a desktop with Outlook to download the email and then import it into the new accounts - maybe I'm overthinking this and there is a cloud-to-cloud way to do this, hence my title about MigrationWiz. The user with the most email has about 25GB, and many are between 10 and 15GB.

I have only used Migration Wiz back when we were moving on-prem Exchange to M365, but as I recall it worked pretty well at that task.

So - How do I accomplish this with the least amount of manual work? They are actually "consolidating" to a single company name, they currently have 5 or 6 names based on location. This first migration will be the pattern for the rest.

How would you approach this task?

GoDaddy just did an awesome switch for a client for Exchange, guessing they added the tenant and then changed the primary email, nothing too crazy. But not sure how that would work for OneDrive. Maybe another tech will join in here.

So no migration was needed for my client.

If the client wants to rebrand while staying on Godaddy, make them swap it.

If the client wants to be free... defederate the mess and rebrand it. No need to migrate, though migration to a fresh tenant is SAFER, and technically cleaner.

@HCHTech,

GoDaddy is, and really should be, a red line that many of us are unwilling to cross. For me, personally, it's a deal breaker and if the client wants me to do the work, defederation is the one and only option.

You need to decide whether it should be a deal breaker for you.

Man ... Godaddy's lipstick on O365 is the most god awful thing they have ever done, it breaks so much functionality across the board. Defederation is always the way to go ... if you ever have to use MigrationWiz for ANYTHING ... I'm going to leave this channel here. This guy is a Migration GOD. He will walk you through step by step through just about ANY migration.

@thecomputerguy That's putting it kindly... IMHO it's blatant fraud. They're charging MORE Than MSRP for M365 services in some cases to deliver less. It's the worst case of bait and switch I've seen foisted on the general public in the tech sphere... that's been allowed to continue. Anyone else tried to do this Microsoft would pull the plug. But Godaddy is the org that does the domain registrations behind Microsoft. The orgs are rather incestuous at this point.

They're so close together in many way I'm confused why Microsoft hasn't officially bought them... but that's probably a strategy to keep the monopoly busters away for now.

Ouch, they derailed and over complicated that project (if I'm reading what the goals were). I'd have just defederated and added CompanyB to the newly freed and busted out of GoDaddy Jail....Company A tenant.

But yes MigrationWiz can do that. Heck even Microsofts native migration tools can do this. Or you can old school hand job it via PST exports and Outlook profiles.

Doing a migration right now with MigrationWiz....from Google Workspace to 365. Did another one a month ago. MigrationWiz...pretty slick.

I guess my actual concern was "can MigrationWiz do this....considering the tenants are both with GoDaddy". I can't use Microsoft native tools...because it's GoDaddy. I could do PST exports and imports, but that's a LOT of manual work and, I've had trouble with this in the past even on one or two person jobs. I should probably just call MigrationWiz. Every. Single. Thing. is more cumbersome when GoDaddy is involved...
