One of our techs recently installed a new Telstra cable Netgear C6300BD-1TLAUS router. The client also had a Netgear EX3700 extender and lost the admin password so it had to be reset.
So the tech had to go through the Netgear extender registration process again and as the client had already registered the device and there was no way to 'Log-in' only option was 'New Registration.
After a whole bunch of messing around and digging around the net we found that all you need to do is:

- Connect to the open wireless Netgear extender network
- Then goto www.mywifiext.net/start_repeater.htm
- Now configure the extender from the back-end without registration!
