i started this thread to help with totalPCTechs and others to get a pc building section going. I'm also in need of help with building a custom pc. I've been on lots of other forums but everyone nags and complains about what you want to do. i figured it would be a better place here to post with professionals that do this for a living. i have uploaded my parts list to drop box for everyone to view.

ram and gpu are the only one im not sure what to pick. i want atleast 4gb ram that will work best with mobo and cpu, and with it overclocked if i need it. gpu im holding off intill i see how well the integrated gpu performs, but would like to hear some opinions on what i should get if i do buy gpu's. just tell me what yall think :D

I looked at it and you picked out good parts. I would suggest running 2 HDDs in a RAID 1 setup and a modular PSU. Is there a reason for the multiple DVD and Blu-ray drives?

just curious you seem to have some nice parts listed but you only want windows home premium? why not ultimate?

i make copies for my farther thats working in another state to keep him busy since he is in the middle of now where. he wanted some blueray for his new player and hdtv. now with the drives i didnt know if the cd burner could play dvds or cds as well same as the bluerayl i didnt think about raid because i just started learning about it. is the diffrence between the one i picked and modular, being able to remove cables and switch cables?

A Blu-ray burner will read/write DVDs and CDs. With a modular PSU you only add the power connectors that you need. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817814018

It helps clean up the inside of your case and minimizes the amount of wires cluttering your case.

Go with at least the Professional edition.

I wouldn't consider it a normal backup. All it is doing is writing each piece of data to both drives at the same time. It is an extra layer of protection and makes things easier for you if you end up losing a drive. That way you can disconnect the bad drive and still use the computer. It is still a good idea to invest in a removable device for backups (USB drive, online backup, or a hot swap drive), but not imperative especially in a RAID 1 configuration. I have never had a backup system on any of my personal computers, even a computer running RAID 0 , and I have never had data loss. I have had a few scares though thinking I have lost everything.

i may do the raid 1 configuration, sounds like a good idea. i still have a 1tb external i use as well. how many watt psu would ya recommend?

RAID 1 is mirroring over multiple discs. It guarantees you wont lose your data, unless your entire PC is destroyed. As long as one of the discs in your system works, you keep all your data.

However, you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket. You still want to do backups to an external source. That whole "Unless your PC is destroyed" disclaimer could raise its ugly head. RAID really isn't a backup solution, it is data redundancy. Make sense?

Nice system, tho. Good job.

My opinions lol-

1. Power supply is kinda overpowered. I would got with a 700w corsair or something similar. Especially since there is no video card or any kind of sli..maybe use the savings n get a GTX460!!!!!!

2. The 1090t is a wonderfull choice but the new i7 sandy core with built in video just came out, might me a good time to give it a run - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115071&cm_re=i7-2600-_-19-115-071-_-Product
I m using a 1055t overclocked to 3.5 with turbo boost at 4.1 n its running perfectly fine.

3. I would use the savings to upgrade to an pretty big case to make it look like the beast that it is!!

Nice build ideas...but with Sandy Bridge just released, the i5 2500K is cheaper than your Phenom (~$220), and it offers better performance (at least that's what I have read).
