I had a customer come in with a cracked CD that has photos on it.

Can the photos be recovered? says she,

Not by me, says I, but I know where I can ask,

So here I am, asking if photos can be recovered from a CD with a crack from the centre hole to the outer edge and if so how?

It's not a job that I can do, so I would be quite happy to pass details of anyone on here who has the equipment or techniques to the lady so she could deal with you directly.

Have a word with Sean at PC Image.

He's the best in the UK at data recovery. A tn member, and is highly regarded by techs on here. If they say not possible, then theres your answer.

If the CD is cracked through the metallic film, likely is nothing that can be recovered. If it's only in the plastic, we can probably help. PM me and we can talk more.

I just realized you're on the other side of the ocean, so you'll probably want to seek out someone out there if you think it has a chance. If you can see light trough the metallic film of the disk, it's almost certainly a lost cause.

I had a customer ask me if they could recover data from a laptop hard drive that looked like this:

I've had more than a few of those show up. You might get a little off the bottom platter, but not likely enough to get paid from the customer.
