Assuming this is the replacement, yup, drive is probably fine, data is borked. Still goes back to "Get out of an OS". Since the drive reports it Model and LBA's correctly, odds are good there is very little to nothing wrong with the drive firmware, or at the very least it is DEFINITELY NOT "bricked"!
I had to google "Asking for cache data failed", but that's happening because your still using a USB adapter. Disconnect that thing, connect directly to SATA, run GSmartControl against it, and it will probably pass. Run MHDD against it, It will probably run just fine. Both of these tools (more MHDD) look at the drive from a low-level drive perspective, with no other software getting in the way. The more you attempt to use any OS, the more potential damage to the data your actually doing, and the more weird results your gonna get. If you are trying to test anything that has to do with Hard Drive "Hardware", never, ever, ever do so from inside any operating system.
