I'm calling BS. I don't know the source, or how credible it is, but this is Microsoft. Someone probably had a Win8.1 computer ready for him. Why would you waste Bill Gates' time by making him install Windows 8.1 (remember, he's Part Time).
If he did get some help, I doubt it was Nadella who helped him.
