The total area of the fire is about 5,480 square meters.

VUGD representative Inta Palkavniece said that firefighters were called to the scene at 3.48 a.m., and with the fire spreading rapidly so that by morning there were about 45 firefighters at the scene.

The fire was put under control at around 7 a.m. Meanwhile LTV reported that it affected a warehouse of the IT firm MikroTik. The company said that the location is insured, and that only one of its warehouses was affected by the fire.

I had a friend who had a small fire in the laundry of their home. Washing machine caught on fire, so they ran to the power box, killed the power and rang the brigade.
Lots of thick acrid smoke but very little actual fire!
When the fiery's came they just busted through the front door with a wide spray hose and walked right through the hall, living room, kitchen, dining room and kids playroom to get to the laundry.

You can imagine how much damage was caused by the high pressure water spray, lol.

It is not only the fire/water damage, It is the smoke damage. My house burned 5 years ago. Started in the Landry area in the garage. 90% of everything was damaged and had to be replaced. Most things could not be economically cleaned and needed to be replaced. To this day I only have the basics I need. I ended up living in my shop for 5 1/2 months with my son and dog. Eating from the fridge and microwave and fast food. We showered at my brothers house. It was too expensive to get a hotel room that would accept pets. We used the time with no home bills to save up to replace our furnshings (no renters insurance) The house was rebuilt/paid for by the mortage insurance.

Because the fire was [sort of] contained in the laundry with the laundry door shut there was little to no smoke damage beyond the kids play room.
When asked about the water all through the house, the Fire Captain simply said "we're here to put the fu%$ing fire out - not worry about water on the fu%$ing carpets!" lol.
