Best way to restore from back up

If you are restoring a workstation from an online backup, and the backup will take a relatively long period of time, do you bring the machine back to the shop?

I tend to think that would be easier, but then again, it may tie up your Internet bandwidth, especially if you don't get very fast speeds to begin with.

We would bring it back to the shop but that is because we have high speed internet from two different sources... FIOS and Cable. We can dedicate the cable internet to that client while the rest of the business is handled by FIOS.

What should you do when you have a slow internet connection yourself ?... Move, or find someone who has highspeed internet that will help you out.

We have several photographers that work in a building where the internet speed is terrible so we let them come here to upload their photographs. It is well worth it to us if they just refer one good business client and we turn them into a managed service client

Right now I've got Clearwire. It's pretty bad. I live in a rural area. I'm on the 1.5 down/.5 up tier. Even on the higher tier the speeds are unreliable.

The other option without moving is unWired Broadband. Little more expensive and service agreement is required. I guess I'll have to weigh the pros and cons.

Maybe I'll just get the download started for the client on-site and tell them I'll be back later.

Good idea... When I lived in Visalia, Calif. as an independent, we sold and installed Clearwire. One of the sales points was that you could move it back and forth from the office to home, at least what we were to tell people... we were in talks with Costco about having a Kiosk but the Clearwire home office nixed that, saying that we were not allowed to do that and were only allowed to sell to individuals and SMB's. Clearwire can't compete anywhere but in rural areas.
I see that unWired's coverage area is the central valley (rural) area.

Can be beyond the pits. Several years ago I had a customer that had basic DSL. Provisioned for 768/256 but was a bit less. This is after Apple started linking their updates to users App store accounts. Due to the situation I had to leave his MacMini server there and do the updates onsite. A major version update of the OS took almost 3 days to complete.

I love where I live but unfortunately can only get 2 down 1 up on att copper. I live 3 miles from the first free way offramp for the city in a tiny unincorporated community which a cable internet fibre line bypasses. Its going to take a town petition to get the cable company to connect to our community.

I know what you mean about poor internet in that area because for a couple of years I lived on Hwy 137 between two dairies next to the Love Inc distribution warehouse, which I ran for about 3 years back in 1999 - 2001 and the Svenhard's bakery plant in Exeter (old location) gave us product to pass on the the needy.
I used to know all of the Pastor's in the area since we provided free produce and goods to their ministries.
I lived in Three Rivers before that and we had terrible reception up there since we lived just 1 mile from the entrance of the park between two mountains.

Don't blame you. The San Joaquin Valley is an arm pit, especially in the summer. It's basically a hot bowl of dust....the good thing is that, you can drive to the coast or mountains in relatively short time frame, for vacation.
