Ok, so when I first started the business I signed up as a Microsoft Partner...I thought that this would allow me to purchase MS software at discounted prices to resell, apparently that is not the case and I have been using one of my distributors ever since.

Lately I have been getting a ton of calls, that I always seem to miss, from MS Partners notifying me to call to hear all of the advantages of being a partner. Now rather then listen to someone from another country for 2 hours explain this to me, is anybody here a partner? What do you really get out of it besides spam e-mails? Am I missing something?

Typical Microsoft style, they make everything confusing lol

You know what I have seen the action pack, but besides that there is not much else. The way the lady was talking on the phone it made me feel like I was really missing something important about this...so..

A) She is really good and there is nothing amazing about it
B) I REALLY am missing something

I think I am just going to sacrifice myself and call them up to see what all the fuss is about

You get to say you're a 'Microsoft Partner' ? :)

I got a trick for you. Record your self and say words like "okaY" "thats good" "yup" "hhm" etc. Then when you call you just play them over and over. Or you can just put them on speaker phone.

I have been a registered partner for about 8 years. The only real benefit I have gotten out of it is "Free Business Down Critical Support". It has saved my butt several times with downed servers. Other than that it's just ink. I mean it seems that Microsoft would give us a discount like Dell, HP, Gateway, ect gets on software. They pay pennies on the dollar. I think it's like $6 for xp pro. I can't say how I know that but I'm know I'm within a few buck of being right. CRN has said for years the VAR's like us have sold more white box computers than the big guys could ever dream of. The big computer and electronic stores are all about to close up and we will always be in demand.

Microsoft we made you and here we are supporting you. Throw us a few bones.:)
