Backup software for desktop/peer to peer LAN

Hey guys,

I have a small business client running 2 PC's, both still with XP.
They have Retrospect 7.6 and an Iomega Rev drive. The Rev drive works brilliantly, however Retrospect is a major pain in that most weeks it breaks and refuses to recognize the media as being included in the backup set.
I've gone through and re-created the backup set, adding all media - to the point I close retrospect, tell it to check media, and it's ok on each cartridge.

Anyway, long story short - I need to replace Retrospect. Can someone advice me on where I should be looking? Client wants backup to be local (no on-line backup solutions) and needs to be "visual" including a log file, so no robocopy scripts unfortunately as the client will be checking the backup themselves each day.

Must work on XP - it's backing up a single machine (they have a "Master" computer) to the Iomega Rev drive.

-edit- looks like it's not for commercial use. This client runs a rental business, with a good number of clients on their books. Might just have a play with it, and sell them the business edition if the trial works good.

Take a look at Acronis True Image. Not only does it support what you're trying to do, it keeps a log file plus it will send an email with the status of the backup.

Been using it for years, for both my office and also my small-business customers.

The GFI solution looks really slick, and I'm testing the free home version. I've fired off an email to them asking about pricing for a single workstation, as they seem to be pricing the business edition for servers etc.

I'll have a look at Acronis - I've used this once to take some system snapshots.

Very good pricing IMO for a good product.

Backup Assist - really meant for servers but works well on 2K + OSes. Expensive in comparison to other solutions here but gives excellent support, reports and will email reports, reminders to change media etc. to whomsoever you please. I have it on about 25-30 sites and have never had a backup fail because of the software nor ever had a test restore fail.
