Baby it's cold outside!

The other day I posted a pic of my trucks thermometer....it was 8* F...got to 7 or 6 by the time I got to my office. I live on the shoreline so the ocean keeps us a tad warmer in the winter...drive 2 miles inland and the temp drops as you get away from the ocean. Benefit is the inverse in the summer...a couple of degrees cooler.

So I posted that pic on FB and a friend of mine that lives up north in Alaska had -35*F. Dang! Another friend was traveling back from seeing her family in Quebec...-17*F. Dang you guys north of the border....BRRRR

Just watching the Portuguese news and they had a story about the the big freeze in North America. Talked about "homeless" and "street people" freezing to death in makeshift shelters. Poor animals as well...
Sad really...

Everyday is almost the same
Until SUMMER arrives ... now we in Southern California (close to) beach cities I feel have the best year-round weather. We just got through one of the meanest fires in the all of California but it didn't affect any of our clients. We OK, some had do deal with loss of power and internet for a short period but none was burned out and the fire stayed about 2 miles away from me. Had us worried though... we were ready to dismantle our server racks and load them in my van. In a few hours I can visit the snow, but I won't as I'm originally from New York State... I don't shovel anymore

@Larry Sabo that sounds like more of a supply issue than a temperature issue. Still makes for all sorts of problems though.

As for the homeless, at least in my area there are a few organizations that do shelters every night just about full-time but in the suburbs I know the cold can make it a real problem for people walking places to get around. Extreme temperatures are a definite problem though.

Or shotgun shells...Oh wait its Austraila and they have no guns.
