I finally got the pro version of MalwareBytes and I have to say that I like it a lot more than the free version. It blocks a lot of bad torrent requests and bad sites, much better than Bit defender or MSSE. The only thing that it is lacking is a decent firewall, now if they could add that, I'd pay more if it works as well as the rest of their programs.

Has anyone had MBAM conflicting with Bitdefender? I have a client who said that he HAD to remove MBAM (Free) before Bitdefender would install. does this make sense at all?

Would any of you feel comfortable enough to leave MSSE & MBAM pro on the machine as the only means of protection (plus windows firewall)?

They don't intend to be the one-size-fits-all solution. They do one thing, and do it well, so I doubt we'll ever see a firewall.

Yes. When they first released it I told people not to trust it, but now between Windows Firewall and the router's, I don't really consider it worth the money for [consumers] to purchase a firewall product. Always check the exceptions list when working on a computer though; they do make it too easy to programmatically add exceptions.

I resell GFI MAX.

I used to put all my clients on AVG free but am switching as many people as possible to GFI for a lot of reasons:

- I make extra money on the GFI.

- GFI's VIPRE antivirus is, in my experience so far, one of the better products out there. On at least a dozen or more PCs with *active* subscriptions to McAffee, Norton, AVG business, etc. I've loaded VIPRE and it has immediately found threats that the other programs missed.

- It allows me to centrally monitor & manage the AV to ensure it's updated & scanned regularly. Many times I've seen client PCs that haven't been scanned in a year or more.

- It allows me to keep most all of the software on a clients' PC up-to-date, which is a critical part of security too.

I've been running the pro version for about a year now and I must say I'm content with it as well. It's well worth it the money. I'm thinking about reselling it.

Haven't seen MBAM conflict with any antivirus / security suite yet. The free version conflicting with Bitdefender doesn't really make sense to me. On the other hand, a quick Google shows enough results with compatibility issues. I haven't really looked in to all results of course but it does seem to happen.

I'd be comfortable enough to leave a customer secured with MSE, MBAM + Windows firewall. I wouldn't worry about it. I install MSE a lot for customers who do not want to pay for antivirus. Of course it isn't bulletproof but what is? And if they dó come back infected you can always sell them KIS :D

Are you using GFI Vipre full product or GFI Managed Antivirus?

I have a few clients using the GFI MAV....but one thing I learned is that it doesn't provide any protection for outlook with attachments, etc.

Also do you use MBAM with it as well?

Yes I use the MAV which, to my understanding, IS VIPRE. Yes, I guess you're right that I do not believe it provides any protection for outlook attachments, but it seems like today 99% of email threats are links, not attachments any more.

I do always like to install MBAM on people's machines, but only the free version.

I reviewed GFI MAV and it's somewhat limited. It's sufficient for business with proxy/cache server but for residential, you need at least an AV that supports Internet security like Viper Internet Security 2013.

Browsing the internet and email is the main source of virus. I figured you want to at least protect that to begin with.

Just wishfull thinking, if GFI MAV is bundle with Internet Security for the same price, them it's would be a nice product to promote for residential.

Personally I hate how those "internet security" suites basically hijack your PC and web browser. Additionally, they usually include some sort of software firewall that 9 times out of 10, in my experience, cause far more problems than they solve.

I'm glad GFI is simple, yet robust.

I use MAV for clients and VIPRE Internet Security for myself. I would use MAV, but I purchased a Lifetime license before I started using GFI MAX. I have had no issues with either. GFI does have other options available specifically for mail scanning, but would only be relevant in business applications.

I ususally use ESET for business clients and webroot/kaspersky for residential clients. I know the new webroot product is pretty awsome. The setup file is less then 1MB, the installed program is about 1.5MB, and the scan usually takes about 2 minutes for a full scan. On top of these it will not interfere or casue issues if theres any other antivirus software installed. If the client insist on free I use MSE becasue it simple and doesnt cause issues as much as some of the others.

When they do get virsus Malware bytes in invaluable. Ive ran 5-10 AV programs to remove an infection and non of then found/removed it until I ran malware bytes.
