Asus C90S custom laptop issue

I have a customer that went out and bought an Asus C90s laptop barebone without consulting with me first. Basically he has also purchased all the parts to it as well with the exception of the video card. Asus has discontinued the laptop. I am having difficulty ascertaining which mobile video card I can actually put in the machine. The asus c90s manual basically says upto Nvidia Mobile 8600M GT. What other card can I throw in this machine? Any 8 series Mobile Pci express card? 7 series? confused? I called asus and they were not very helpful at all.

Your main problem is the heatsink configuration. Make sure that the card is designed for the asus layout.

aye and the other problem is Nvidia does not make the 8600m gt card anymore so I have to find it somewhere that has it

Is it an MXM slot? (edit: A very quick google search seems to tell that it's MXM Type 2) As long as it conforms to spec, you might be able to just buy the right type of card (1, 2, or 3...) and then hunt down a heatsink that will fit.

thanks I located the card on eBay MXM type 2 LINK this seems to be the right card as I compare it to this card LINK

Although the one on eBay seems to be bigger.
