Asset tracking and inventory - any great solutions that you know of?

I think between your posts, and my n-able demo. I am sold on n-able. it's just that 500 a month commitment is a little daunting when you currently have 0 customers on board.

That was a worry of mine as well, that's why i haven't went were a rmm solution as of yet because i really like nable but if i go with something else cheaper then i worry it may be harder to switch things over once I get the ball rolling.

I currently use excel.. Have a file for each client and the hardware/software/network is divided by sheet..

What I really wanted Santa to bring me ( I actually got socks and aftershave ) was an application that was cross platform, standalone and with a reporting function that would let me print off branded reports of any or all items in its database.. For example, those nice dudes at Microsoft send a software compliance request and with a few clicks, I print a report that lists all computers with os version, license type and serial number for a whole site, same for office and cals/SQL/etc etc.. The same concept for hardware and warranty dates.. It must exist.. It's just too useful to not be available.. Also an inventory of network attached devices with logins and config tables.. But I'll be damned if I can find it..

Would be great to have a solution for the above that is affordable and cloud based, so I can have the data available in the office or on my iPad when on site..

I have looked at spice works and the asset tracking in gfimax.. But they both lack depth and custom reporting capabilities..

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Hi TecPCPro. You're using Excel? Wow, I feel your pain, that is not an intuitive program. I work for Mhelpdesk and I'd like to suggest you take a look at our software. It really does sound like what you're looking for. Particularly if multiple people need to use the system, it's beneficial to have a visual presentation that's more intuitive than a spreadsheet; ours looks like tabs in folders, something most people are used to from computers. It's still really efficient at tracking both items and jobs, even staffers if they're offsite. The tour is here, there's a full manual online (I can see you're a details-oriented person), and lots of video tutorials, all free. It's designed to be accessed by multiple people, from multiple devices, and it even supports one touch online payment for your customers. And we have different price points for different sizes of business; some of our clients are single owners. I mean yes, you probably CAN code your own system, but you might have better things to do, particularly if the tool already exists.
