Hey all,

Does anyone have any experience with Asset Management systems? We are looking for something, ideally to feature:

- Cloud hosted
- Mobile app for scanning barcodes in the field
- Ability to create assemblies e.g. a 'Gaming PC' as the asset that contains other accessories/assets of e.g. 1 x RTX2080 GPU, 2 x 8GB 3000Mhz RAM, 2 x Dell 24" Monitor etc.
- Ability to track these assets across various customer sites
- Ability to calculate depreciation on the assets
- Multicurrency
- Reorder reports for tracking stock levels of parts/consumables in the warehouse

Thanks in advance for any help. I will be checking out the top results in search engines, but would be awesome to have the benefit of your experience.

Whose assets are we talking about here? Computers owned by your client and serviced by you? I ask because that's different than:

Reorder reports for tracking stock levels of parts/consumables in the warehouse

This sounds more like you are wanting to track inventory.

I use Repairshopr for ticketing - it certainly can handle customer assets and barcode scanning. It can do inventory as well, although I don't use it for that - my inventory is in my accounting system = Quickbooks.

- Ability to calculate depreciation on the assets

I assume you are referring to YOUR (non-inventory) assets here. Like equipment for the shop?

This is an accounting function, I would think you would need to calculate that manually no matter what accounting system you have. My accountant does this for me.

Manufacturing companies use ERP's that work better for this. That said, one offering that comes to mind that might be capable is something called Manager.

https://www.manager.io/features/

It offers manufacturing management as well as stock and inventory.

Edit: I just found this, though I know nothing about it. The point is, there are solutions available if you know what to look for.

Edit II: A full ERP may not be what you're looking for if you don't want the accounting side of things. an MRP is focused on managing the manufacturing side of things.

Thanks for the replies.

I am looking to track rented equipment that we will own. We will have to visit periodically an audit the equipment condition, and will keep spares/fix the machines too.

I was hoping someone here might lease equipment (printers, perhaps?) and use software to track assets.

The equipment might be moved between offices so we need to be able to move assets between sites easily and get a list of all the equipment at e.g. ACME Inc.

The system would need an element of stock control to tell us e.g. how many hard drives/PC's/monitors we replaced over a set period, and to

Whilst ERP would probably do the job, I am trying to find something as lightweight as possible.

Thanks for the links, I will take a look.
