Hi

I have had a customer drop one of this tablets off because they forgot the password.

Looked on archos web site and it tells me to fully factory reset hold the power button down and the vol + key and it will give you opens to reset it.

I have tried the Vol+ and Vol- and nothing happens - when i do the Vol- i get an andriod logo lying down with a red ! by it but after 60 seconds or so it just turns off.

Anyone know how to factory reset these?

Thank you
Dave

on its own? with nothing else? yes

When i hold it down it comes on. after about 5 seconds or so goes off because the power button is still held down.

The tablet is about 9 days old which sucks for the customer,

This is the screen i get when i hold down the Vol - when turning it on

Haven't done it with an Archos but recently recovered from something similar on a no name Android tablet by flashing the latest firmware

To Enter Into The Recovery Screen

- Turn off the device and wait 10 seconds.
- Press and hold the volume + button while powering on the device.
- Keep the volume + pressed until the Recovery mode starts (white screen).
- To move from one option to another, use the volume buttons. To select an option, press the ON/OFF button.

Try that.

This is probably your best option, as many of the generic droid tablets won't allow you to factory restore otherwise. You usually have to download the firmware, copy it to card, insert the card into the tablet, and hold down one of the volume buttons and power button at the same time, and then it will start the recovery process.

I just performed this on one a few days ago.

Tried the above and no luck

mike i tried that - its on the archos web site but still no luck thanks.

i will give archos a call today and see what they say

Fixed

Hi

Rang Archos and they helped me to fix the problem.

when you turn the Tablet on press the Vol - Button and power when you first turn it on. let go of the power button but keep the Vol - down.

Once you get to the screen with the android on the side with the ! symbol press the hold the power button down and quickly press the Vol+ and it should bring up the menu to factory reset the device.

You will need to remember when pressing down the power button to do it quickly otherwise it will restart the tablet.

Hope that helps others.

Thanks
