Setup a brand new OfficeJet 6700 for as customer. It is an Airprint printer. It is attached to the router via an ethernet cable. It works fine on the network for all PCs. The Ipads see the printer but when I try and it print it says printer offline. The second time the print option is just greyed out.

The Ipads both have the latest OS installed, and the printers firmware is up to date. I am thinking its the router.

Anybody come across this before?

Connected via ethernet cable only, it won't let me connect using both. Firmware is the latest.

Reading google, people seem to suggest the router has to support mDNS so that is something I need to check, it is a very early 8011.N draft router, which is 3 or 4 years old.

Updated the routers firmware and it works like magic :). Just ran out of time to it on Friday as I was late for my next job, so I thought I would asked on here in case people have had the same problem and it wasn't the firmware (always handy to have pre knowledge!) as it happened it was an easy fix.

Just had one today, all working fine using AirPrint on iOS 6 from an iPhone and IPad. Client upgraded to iOS 7 and air printer(hp) couldn't be found. I upgraded the router and all was ok.

Nice to know the answer I had the exact same problem
I thought it might have something to do with bonjour.

I asked the same question on a Mac forum (macosx) but as expected did not get a reply
