Hi All,

I am soon to be receiving an AP 9619 NMC for my APC UPS

Does anyone know if it accepts authenticated SMTP ?

Having looked online I get mixed reviews as to yes or no, I primarily purchased it so that I could receive email alerts in the event of a power cut whilst I am not on site. But I need to authenticate to my main mail server, so would be a shame to miss out on this. Or is there any anonymous smtp servers online I can send mail from ?

If it does not support this, I have heard about setting up a local SMTP server for anonymous login and then relay that to the authenticated server ? Could anyone assist on this ? I have never set anything in regards to mail up,

I would ideally like the card to accept authenticated servers then I don't have additional points of failure, and having to keep another machine up during a power outage so that I can be alerted.

Many Thanks.

I'm not sure on the model you listed but the 9620 does. I would assume they run the same firmware and such. Obviously make sure everything downstream of the modem is on the same UPS to allow the emails to be sent.

I authenticate using our local ISP SMTP server where we have an account setup specifically for alerts. Their servers are backed up with a generators so chances are very slim they will go down.
