Anyone Use a Standing Desk or Workbench?

One more reason short people like me will rule the world!!!

Seriously, though, you must be pretty tall to have your table raised and still need 7-10 inches to reach a good standing height. Using my mouse while standing gives me a close to flat angle at the elbow. The closer to the table I stand, the flatter the angle. My belly places an unyielding limit on that particular specification :D.

I'm not really all that tall, 5-11 or so. I think the issue is that the risers I bought are about two inches shorter than the ones you have. An additional 7-10" may have been a little exaggerated. Right now I'm using an empty PSU box (about 3" high) for a mouse platform and stuck a few books under the monitor. It made a substantial improvement, but I think I would still like it a little higher. After I settle on a comfortable height, I'll re-engineer to something more permanent.

Only two stations in our shop have benches at standing height by design. The Cell phone and Hardware stations are the only ones I allows sitting in. These repairs are more difficult to do while standing and typically, when you work on projects in these areas, you are working on one project at a time. The Diagnostic and Software station on the other hand are standing only benches and my techs are not allowed to even attempt to sit in these areas.

We have found that for repairs in which we can easily multitask (software repairs and diagnostic), standing is more effecient. For repairs which require ones full attention, sitting is often times better.

I switched from sitting to standing about a year and a half ago... Great desicion, I feel like I can focus more, my back hurts less, and I can move between stations (2x 4port KVM setups, plus 6 laptop stations, and an assembly station) allowinge to get more done.
