Anyone played with Ubiquiti's Unifi Security Gateway yet?

Haven't used ubnt for anything but Wi-Fi.

Haven't even tried the edge router or the switches.

I stick with Zyxel for router

Where does it fit on the product line compared to the edgerouter/lite? Looks interesting. Wish it had UTM functionality though :S

Unified product with the Ubiquiti line...managed from same cloud controller (v4 and up though)....and they seem to talk about good VPN functionality. Plus built in SIP QoS for voip phones (including theirs).

Do you have any info as to when this and their VOIP phones will be available? I still don't see them on my Streakwave page.
p.s. just got an Edgerouter the other day to play with. Have to see what the hype is all about....

Bottom of the Unifi section...they're there at SW

Only thing I know about them is what I read on the product guide PDF.

I have several of the edge routers and tough switches and had pretty good luck with them on my wisp network.

I have not had the need to the USG device yet, however I have a project that its in the quote but I will be using it for a unifi controller more then again.

Interesting.

Might have to get one of these, if I can find a UK stockist. I've got a couple of jobs I'm presently working on that these might just be perfect for, especially for the VoIP and VPN functionality.

Thanks for posting Stonecat.

Yeah we've been using the Edge Routers and tough switches for clients lately....and even have the biggest Pro model for ourselves at the office for our services side of public IPs.

Lookin' forward to these devices though....gonna ask my rep at SW about them next week...have 1x client with a 5x location WAN that has IP phones with frequent issues.....

. Are you electing to install the Edge Routers instead of a UTM always or only in specific use cases?

No...I'm a firm believer in UTMs being at the edge of business networks.
But I'm unable to force every single client to do a UTM that has an annual subscription renewal...so for our..uhmm...."cheaper" clients...we need traditional NAT routers. Historically routers like Cisco RV0 series.

Where is everyone buying the equipment? We have only gone through 1/2 dozen AP's at this point but it's starting to look like we will be using more of these in the future. Amazon.com is where we were getting them but I would prefer to use a distributor. I'm not setup with any on the list. I'm located in MD so the closer the better.

I get 'em from Streakwave...they have good support, training, pre-sales support if you're doing a big fancy project, etc.
Start doing volume and your prices go down.....can't get any of those above good things from amazon.

Looks interesting...for our smaller biz clients that we don't get on UTMs...

I ahve just set one up for in house testing.

Unit is metal cased with the usual Unifi glow on it.
Adding to my cloud controller took some time but provisioned OK evntually, most likely due to my broadband setup. You need the WAN connected for it to be seen in the cloud based controller. (obvious now)
Some interesting features:
Deep packet inspection (in beta so not on my default) seems to work well
You can enable it to run a periodic speedtest (in beta)
Port wise it has a console, WAN, LAN & VoIP
You can enable the VoIP port to be a WAN2 in failover mode in testing this was really quick BUT it will not move back to WAN1 automatically (as far as I can tell) My WAN1 is Virgin Media (home) so DHCP, WAN2 is FTTC so PPOE
I have yet to play with the Site to Site VPN
Some things need a Unifi Switch to function but it tells you which such as DHCP Guarding and IGMP Snooping

Over all first impressions seem good, integrates well and plays well with my on UAP
