I just saw this listed on one of my website that I visit daily.

http://www.aomeitech.com/

This backup software looks very nice and is free for both home and business users. It is very similar to the Shadow protect backup that I have been using for many years. It allows you to create image based backup for both PC and Server. It has capability to create a bootable CD for recovery and also include mounting capability with exploring images.

Here is the list of videos available.

I just did a 50GB backup of one of my lab PC's in less than 10 minutes. And was able to mount the image and explore.

I am very impressed in this software and can't believe it is free!

They do offer a bunch of other disk partition type programs....some free but some are very inexpensive and they have a reseller program.

I've used their partition management program and it's great! Also free for personal and business use. I like the clear and simple user interface to this imaging program but wonder how it will handle IO errors. There is no in-advance option to skip errors, so it probably asks what to do during the imaging process when one is encountered. I'll try it on a flaky drive and see. I would prefer to be able to set the option in advance, but one can hardly complain, given the price and it's other excellent features.

I wonder, too, about the license term that prohibits distribution of the program. Taken literally, I guess it means I have to download it each time to a customer's PC, rather than just copy it from my flash drive. That's not going to happen.

Haven't imaged a problematic disk yet because of problems with my system, but I did ask them about the license conditions I mentioned...
I notice that the license says the program must not be distributed, copied, etc. Does this mean that I must not install the program on a customer's computer from a flash drive on which I carry my troubleshooting tools? That is, that it must be downloaded on the customer's PC from your site instead?
They answered promptly...
Thanks for contacting us and using our software.
That is a mistake, the agreement seems have not be revised when it released. Anyway it is a freeware, you can do what you mentioned. And if you find any problem or any suggestions please feel free to let us know. We are trying our best to upgrade this software, and appreciate any of your suggestions.
Seems like a very helpful company, and a good product so far. I'll update regarding how it deals with errors later.

The only issue I have found which is sort of a big one.....It doesn't support scheduling the backup job to run. So you have to manually run it.

Seems a bit odd....They said they will be adding schedule backup in the near future. (Not sure where they are located but their response was pretty bad english).
