If you drive less than 10k miles per year, leasing is fine. If not, you'll be paying through the nose. I typically pay cash for cars and hardly ever buy new. Lately, though, I've switched that up. I'm getting 0.9 interest on 2 new cars. I earn more interest than that with the money in other places. Plus I get a tax break. If you only have one car, don't run it as a business vehicle. Just split the expenses between personal and business on your taxes. If you have a separate car, than buy everything else as business. Your accountant can explain it better than me.
My problem with the 3 is the lack of cargo room. On top of that, the rear is shaped funny. So the space that is there isn't very usable. That was another reason that led me to the impreza. The rear hatch opens up like the gates of Hades! This was another reason: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ3YQA7x5mo&feature=youtube_gdata_player
