Customer dropped off a laptop on Friday and just wanted a clean reload. He has a valid COA for Win 7 Home but he gave me a copy of "Windows 7 Student" and said "I was told to install this".

Is there anything about the student version that I don't know about ? I don't think I ever installed one of them and since the COA is for Home Premium it makes sense to just install that.

Does anyone here install "student" versions of Windows and if so, for what reason ? Any reason for me to keep "student" versions of Windows on hand ?

When i did my degree in computing i was given access to student msdn, and as a student i had access to windows ultimate. its possible that this is the version he would have wanted installing

Most Student versions will be Win 7 Pro, other then that....

True. I got a copy of Windows 7 Pro 32/64bit while attending computer classes years back. Downloaded them off the MSDN Student portal provided by the school I was attending. So I would say it's probably Win 7 Pro

He probably needs the features of the pro/student version, rather than the home one.
