Any good royalty free image/photo websites?

Hi , i am just in the process of getting my website together. I was looking to insert some JPEGs, and maybe some very light flash video in the site. So i got searching the net and I have tried a huge amount of the websites for stock photos and royalty free photos, but all im getting is sites that want you to register and then you have to pay a fee to get the images. They are not free at all, or some want links to their sites for using the images which is fair enough, but i really don't want 5-10 links to photographers websites on my own! Any thoughts or advice welcome.

sxc.hu is a great site for free images, morguefile is also very good

Stock images are cheap. A couple of dollars each at most. Pay for some good ones.

Be very careful with free images, as often the site offering them is not the copyright holder. I always use Istockphoto for this purpose, but more and often or not just take my own.

Thanks for all the reply's. Morguefile and Everystockphoto.com are very good. I hear what you are saying about the free sites and copyright infringement. I will try to make some of my own as well, even though i am rubbish at that sort of thing, and then pay for something that i find really good.

TBH quality stock is not expensive, and the quality of the images you use on the site will affect the appearance overall. You can get stock images and vectors from http://bigstock.com for about $3 each - no subscription required - just purchase as many or as few as you want.

other than that, creative commons search can be delimited to images that are free for commercial use:
