Another Reimage post

I'm currently on a 3 day trial of Reimage as I wanted to see what the fuss was about. I've used it once on a PC that was loading but had corrupted or missing dll files and it fixed the problem without any fuss.

I'm now running it on a PC that has missing or corrupt c:\windows\system32\system on startup so I can't get into safe mode with networking to run Reimage. The disk and file structure all tests out ok with chkdsk so I thought this would be a great test for Reimage. I'm trying to launch via the boot cd off the Reimage website but its failing at the point where it installs the active x component. All of the browser security settings are set to allow active x but it won't get past the downloading program page. I've contacted Reimage but they say that they won't support the boot cd. I've also tried a few different boot cds but all seem to have issues with active x via Internet Explorer. Unfortunately it looks like reimage will only work with IE.. Has anybody used the boot cd successfully or does anybody know of another boot cd that works ok with reimage?

My experience with them was less than impressive. It was OK but I felt missed some major stuff.

Anyway, have you tried UBCDWin to rollback the registry. I've seen that cure that maessage - sometimes!

Yep tried the registry restore wizard with no joy. The PC isn't an issue as I can sort that out with a repair install or a reformat + backup. It's more a point that I wanted to see what Reimage could do. They say in the blurb to use a bootdisk but none of the ones I've tried allow you to run a fully functioning IE which appears to be causing the issue.. Its certainly doing nothing to sell the product to me.

I've had great luck with the reimage bootcd; maybe once or twice has it actually given me any kind of fit. The biggest problem, in my opinion, isn't necessarily the software's fault...we don't really know what it can and can't fix, especially without fully knowing what the actual cause of the problem is...

Ok hows this for odd. I booted the same cd on an external CD drive attached to the pc and it worked! It would appear the internal drive was causing the issues although everything appeared to boot with no errors.
