I was setting up a new computer for a customer and they had a new sound system they ordered. AmazonBasics. It was a Bluetooth system. Got the blooth tooth piece installed, everything went smoothly. But the drivers for the System wouldn't install.

I ended up using an Aux cable for the computer and then they could connect their phones with Bluetooth if they wanted to play from there.

Have you all seen a page you could go to to get the drivers for these devices?

Sounds like you're using a portable Bluetooth speaker that people use for their phones to provide sound from the PC?

And when doing that it needs to be set as the default sound device in Windows or switched to it in sound settings each time you want to use it.

I have a 3 pc set as my main sound on my desktop I have it wired. I just have to dig up the remote when the power goes oyt to switch it back to the wired connection of my desktop. On my laptop I was using a Bluetooth stereo system when I wanted to jam Amazon music in the shop untill I got an Echo dot out there.

Yeah those Bluetooth speakers ONLY output whats INPUT to it, eg. cell phone, tablet OR laptop/desktop.

You cannot use it on more than one device at a time. Like connect it to your laptop and still play audio from you cell phone. And as @Porthos said (beat me to it ) for a computer - Windows 10 - right click the little speaker icon in the taskbar, then choose the output device, in this case, the external speaker.

I don't follow. It's Bluetooth, what drivers would they need?

That is what they were set up with. I guess I was assuming that they had custom drivers or software for the sound system. As I would plug in the blue tooth device, the initial driver would install correctly. Then I would add a device, it would find the speakers, I would try to connect. It said to please wait while the drivers for the device would finish installing. Then it would fail there and I never could get the speakers to show in the sound settings.

I know the Bluetooth receiver was working fine, I could connect my phone to them without a problem and it would play. I was assuming there was extra software that was trying to install that was needed for them to function correctly.

I also found an update for fixing known Bluetooth issues in Windows 7, but the answer there was to upgrade to Windows 10 and I know they didn't want to do that.

I guess maybe I was assuming there were more features, as it was trying to install more software when connected.

I would avoid all the PC / Bluetooth issues and ...

  • Simple Bluetooth pairing—easily connect on the fly to a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or iPod or quick connect with a simple 3.5mm audio input cable

I looked at that one, I ended up with one that has a FM tuner and remote.

That would have probably fixed your issue. Still needs to be done though. ;)

I did that with one I have, Bluetooth did not sound as good.

I assumed that a new computer is Windows 10. What version is it? I have a Windows 10 (anniversary update) same issue with you, the Bluetooth Speaker didn't work particularly the driver. I upgraded to version 1809 and the Bluetooth Speaker works like a charm.

If the new computer is Windows 10 version 1903, it might have an issue.
