Britec09 did a video a while back on this product calling it the only USB you will ever need. https://ventoy.net/en/index.html If you were to use it, what would be the ISO files you would add to it? Let's get a list going.

For me so far I'm thinking

Hiren's Boot disc
Linux Distro
Windows 10 installer
PCUnlocker

Trying to get my hands on some Windows 8 and 7 installers, but that's not as important these days.

Never heard of that. What looks interesting is it appears to "replicate" the functionality of iodd without having to have an iodd. And it looks like it's a bit easier to use. At least compared to the one I have.

I use Ventoy it's great. Works on UEFI and older MBR/BIOS. The drive gets formatted as exFAT with a folder named ISO. All you have to do when you have a new ISO is drop it into that folder. Job done. And you can continue using the drive as a standard storage device at the same time.

Only slight irk is having to disable SecureBoot but not much can be done about that.

Current ISO's are:
- Basically every version of Windows Server since 2012. I do a lot of testing and PoC's so I'm always spinning up new servers.
- Win10 1909 and Win10 20H2
- Win 8.1 never used but keep it around anyway
- Macrium Reflect recovery environment for cloning drives
- Parted Magic for data recovery
- Latest version of Dell Server Update Utility (SUU)
- PCUnlocker for resetting passwords. Rarely used but keep it around anyway.

I also have various Office Installers, Tools and scripts etc saved outside of the ISO directory.

And that is the story of how a 128GB drive has become too small for me...

Does this only work for bootable programs? Someone recommended WRT which I don't think is a bootable program. How does it work for tools and software that you can't normally boot a computer from such as Malwarebytes, WRT, or say D7x?

Within Windows it works as a standard USB drive formatted as exFAT. So you can save whatever you like to it. Just don't save into the ISO folder or it will mess up your boot menu with junk.

Obviously I haven't tested it yet. But the ISO list page indicates a ton of live distros like WinPE as well a mess of *nix's. So, in theory, you should be able to add WRT and other stuff to a custom WinPE.

Yes I'm building my own WinPE, and looking at building a portable SSD. Right now all my portable drives are hdd. I did start installing this on a flash drive though. So far it's cool. Used pcunlocker to reset a password and windows 10 to reinstall on a computer from it. Pretty neat bit of kit.

I have been using it for about 6 months. Keep a load of bootable windows, and Nix Isos and updates on it as well as a range of "normal" programs. Musch easier to use that the iodd I had which had a screen to small to read. Mine is on an old m2 drive I had spare with a USB adaptor and case so very fast.

I've made my first instance of this, and working on purchasing some more programs to use. Is it a good idea to have a windows 7 and Windows 8.1 iso for any reason? I can't seem to find where you can get one without having a license number.

@Fred Claus, what are you using for building the WinPE? During the down time earlier this year I started working on doing the same. Used the ADK environment to do that. I know there's others but never really looked at them.

This is amazing putting all my iso's on now, no excuse for not having the right tool
what I love about this is how easy it is. With other tools you have to run the program to install the iso, and you sometimes can only install specific ones. With Ventoy, you run the tool to set up the flashdrive. Then you just add your iso's to the drive as needed. If you have new ones, just add them to the drive and Ventoy automatically picks them up the next time you use it. I love it. Now I have on a 1TB SSD;

Hiren PE
Gandalf PE
Sergei PE
PC Unlocker
Windows 10

Plus a bunch of tools as well. If I find another one I want to play with I just add it. No need to run the program again.

I use a IODD with a 500 GB SSD, partitioned into 2 partiotions of 100 and 400 GB respectively.
I have about 30 .iso's for OS's on the small partition. On the larger partition I have Windows Repair Toolbox.
I have a folder containing all the scripts, tools, programs (inc Fabs Autobackup) that I need for daily use.
When I open WRT they are all there ready - in addition to the many that are already part of WRT.
Its a one stop shop.

I can boot from the IODD into Linux, BSD, Windows or GandalfsPE. From GandalfsPE I can run WRT to access all I need.
Quick simple and very convenient.

Great program, though how does one access other apps that are not .ISO. I have them in a separate folder on the drive, but no listing. Can this be done using this tool or only for .ISO?

Put all your tools, scripts programs into the the "WRT/Downloads/Custom Tools/ Added Custom Tools folder
Then open WRT and "refresh" the list.

All your .iso's should be on a seperate partition and accessed via the menu on your IODD.
