Admin password needed?

Here's a long story short:
I finished with a client's system doing a virus and bloatware removal. Everything checked out fine, so I returned the system. A couple of days later, my client calls and says I uninstalled some software that he needs (some sort of Adobe reader program that I've never heard of that they use at the library). It should just be a simple download and reinstall, right?

The problem is that when he runs the install file, he gets an error message of some sort saying that he needs the admin password. There is only one user account on this Win7 Home system (it would have admin rights by default) and there isn't a password set.

Has anyone else seen this before? I don't have the system on my bench right now. I'm trying to deduce the probable issue before I drive the 40min to his place (I'm a mobile tech) and look at it. I'd rather just walk him through it over the phone, but I'll make the drive if I need to.

I should also mention that a Google and Technibble search on the subject only gives me info on cracking/removing account passwords. I don't need to crack or remove the password as the account doesn't have one in the first place.

Why not a remote session?
I don't do remote sessions very often (mostly just friends and family). I have my modified LogMeIn installer hosted on my website (www.indy-pc.com/remote.exe), but I seem to be having issues with it recently. I really just haven't had time to look into it. With it not being a high priority for me, I keep putting it on the back burner.

did you do run as administrator?
No, but I'll give that a whirl. I don't know why that would be any different, but stranger things have happened, I suppose.

There is an Adobe for reading e-books that to install you need to run IE as Administrator for the Adobe site to let it install.
