I'm testing Acronis True Image 2009 to use when backing up and making restore disc for customers. I did a test run with backing up and restoring from an external hard drive with no problems. I created a Restore DVD with the One-Click option and the disc was created. I'm using an external hard drive with the restore DVD and tried testing the restore One-Click DVD method. It boots up and I get to the One-Click menu and when I select One-Click, it can't find the image on the DVD. Any idea why? I did notice the image on the DVD was H drive, but I don't think that should make a difference. I no the image is their (I can see it on my other computer). Thanks for any help.

Update: I don't guess you can restore an image from a USB DVD optical drive. At least not on my test computer. I plugged in my DVD drive from my other computer and successfully restored the image. Acronis True Image 2009 is an awesome program.

Hmm... well that would make it interesting then if they don't haev a dvd drive! Did you try it on different hardware to see if the usb DVD wasn't compatible? You can do network backups too I believe.

If you need a freebie partimage on systemrescuecd does backups as well. Also PING, Parted Magic, Clonezilla Live, G4L.

I would call Acronis tech support, or at least check their website - seems odd that it wouldn't see the image on USB. I called them a while back with pre-sale questions, and they were very helpful.

did you have the external dvd drive in the computer when you booted the computer, you have to do that when using boot cd's ( I understand that's what you used )

ok just reread your post it seems like you booted from the dvd so you had it in ofcourse. I would call tech support.

I'm too worried about the problem. I just wanted to make sure that the restore cd worked as described. So if I make a customer a restore cd, that it works with their CD/DVD drove. I'm not worried about it working from my USB drive. Thanks for the suggestions.

I've seen quite a few machines that don't have a dvd drive. Why they don't include one when the computer really isn't more then a few years old I dunno. I have had one for a long time and they weren't that expensive even then!
