got an acer travelmate 2430 laptop running ubuntu linux and a dead keyboard here, story is, someone took it to there "friend who knows computers" to give it a speed up and has now given it to me to clean up the mess the other bloke made. he wants windows put back on which im in the process of doing now but the keyboard was disconected for some reason or other and was never re-connected and im sitting here scratching my head wondering how the hell to actualy get the damn thing off to re-connect it again. i cant find a service manual online anywhere and its one of those poxy smiley shaped keyboards.

does anyone have any exp with this model or similar?
thanx in advance :)
ITU

if it was given a speed up maybe drivers were erased/blocked from startup. id give that a look first before pulling her apart

update-

downloaded the service manual and aparently there was 3 screws on the back that removed the upper part of the laptop above the keyboard so that the keyboard could then be slid forward and out. they just looked like chassis screws to me so i over looked them the first time round. but the keyboards back in and working :)

-sigh- guess you gotta spend money to make money thanks for the link pcstu n i found a few on other pay sites and ebay i was hopeing it wouldnt come to that though.

I briefly try for free first and hit maybe 1/3 of the time. I then see if the $4 eBay stuff is available and, if so, buy it.

If I strike out there I really dig through Google etc. before I buy from people that are pricing manuals like the Dead Sea Scrolls - not because it is economically efficient, but because I hate to be hosed.

Later......
