ASUS EEE PC bios problem?

HI,

im just new to the forum so forgive me if i might miss out some points. ^^,

i have an ASUS EEE PC 900HA* netbook that im trying to fix. the computer is not posting, problem happened after the netbook turned off after the battery drained. tried basic t/s steps for no post issues to no avail. tried removing memory and hdd and system does not post, not even giving out post beeps. i held off in pulling the rest of the system open bec. i did a research and some forums mentioned that this usually is a bios problem that results after the system looses battery power and shuts off. just wanna ask if anyone encountered this problem and how they fixed it.. thanx. :)

*ERRATUM: i changed the name of system from ACER Aspire One to ASUS EEE PC 900HA. i got confused with the two laptops that im working on right now.. sorry guys.:(

I have to wonder if you are getting power with it plugged in - Do the lights come on? Fans spin?

If you suspect the BIOS then Acer does have way to flash it even if its not posting - You can view their instructions at their website

http://support.acer.com/supportdocs.aspx

If that doesn't work, then you are most likely going to need to take it apart and determine what the issue is, such as psu, connections, mb, cpu etc... Good luck and let us know how it works out.

hi express tech, thanx for the prompt response.. but i must apologize to everyone because i was in a hurry in creating this thread.. i just realized that i mentioned the wrong system. :( im actually having problem w/ an ASUS EEE PC 900HA not the Acer Aspire one. the Acer im actually reinstalling windows on right now.. im so sorry bout writing this wrong, is there a way i can edit my thread and the title?.. sorry guys, its my first thread.. Ok - so ASUS not Acer - so minus the BIOS flash and acer support section of my response/questions still pretty much apply and most likely the steps will still be the same. You could also try using a POST card to help with where its failing.

thanx expresstech... ok to answer your question.. yes there is power, hdd and power light turns on. fan also spins. im still waiting for some info from my customer about the warranty of the computer.. i will hold off taking it apart til tomorrow.. thanx. ^^,

try resetting bios to defaults?

try running computer from just Ac power after you remove the battery?

the only way i tried to do a bios reset is by using the reset button at the bottom and that didnt help. system is not posting even w/ just the ac adapter plugged in. the power light, hdd and wifi light turns on but nothing displays on the screen. already tried using an external monitor and nothing..

I had an issue with my 1002HA. The power light would come on, then the hdd light would blink. Turns out to be a typical problem with some eee's. The fault is a bad mobo.

yeah.. thats what i thought too... i have already contacted local Asus support here and they said the same thing.. problem is the laptop does not have their international support, it has only regional support.. so were gonna have to send it back to were it was purchased from if were gonna have it repaired, w/c is in a different country.. :(

sorry i forgot to close this thread. BTW, thanx for everyone's help on this. what i did to resolve this issue was just taking out the cmos battery for 10 mins (i walked away and took a snack) and putting it back in. :D
