Wanted to see if anyone has seen this problem before or if anyone could help with the problem.

This is a computer in for service in our shop. Let me Give some info and tell you what i have tried so far.

Acer Aspire M5641
Intel E2200 processor
2 sticks of 2GB DDR2 800 dimms
no extra cards installed
has a card reader and some extra usb conn and a digital audio out conn

1st of all, on my initial check, it came up with the blue screen and received a "STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" error message

Did some Google checking and tried to boot to a boot cd(ubcd for win), but locked up.

tried to load a vista boot cd but locks up after loading files when the green bar starts going across screen

removed hd and hooked up to my laptop and scanned for virus and ran check disk on it. did say it found and corrected some errors.

reinstalled drive and tried again, with same blue screen

unplugged all unnecessary cables for usb and card reader

started trying to check memory - installed a new good stick, and tried to boot to vista boot cd and it locked up again same spot.

tried a different dvd drive for the heck of it with no change

reinstalled old memory and booted to menu on boot cd and choose memtest86 and it went through about test 2 and restarted.

tried new memory again and it went through all of memtest86 test, so tried to run both boot cds with it and it locks up

tested old mem sticks one at a time and will go thru test, but together, pc will reboot after about midway thru test 2

I am down to thinking I have possible mb problems, but wanted to see if anyone else had run into this. sorry for the length but wanted to put out there what i had tried. If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate the help

Thanks

Can you access the files on the drive? Last time I ran into this it was severe file system corruption and we couldn't get it going again; in the end we had to nuke and pave. Check the SMART and perform diagnostics on the drive as this could be bad blocks (I like HDTune)

thanks for responding and yes files are accessible. just tried a different drive in pc and tried to boot to the vista boot cd and locked up at the same spot

Have a read of this

And what o/s are you using

Im sorry, missed putting that. o/s is Vista

i have looked at a list similar to that and have checked most that dont require having to boot into the system or use a boot cd, since neither is working.

I do see one thing i can try....clearing the bios

You may need to up date bios to get Ahci depends on typ and v#

If you disconnect hdds cd rom or dvd rom keep one connected to boot from or boot from usb remove one ram chip and see if you can boot in to pe
