Good day all,
Ive received back a laptop for the third time in two months where on booting it up the backlight turns on, the system gets into windows (hear windows loging and skype setup) but no picture at all.
The first time I received it was for a big virus removal job and the second time was due to an obliterated fan (obvious signs of dropping and over handling).
before getting it back there were no viruses, the fan had been replaced and was working fine and we had a picture, but something that the owner or her daughters have done has resulted in the screen not showing an image. They mentioned at one point that the date and time had reset - i thought some sort of CMOS issue here.
I've checked an external monitor with the function keys and no signal is being picked up, all internal hardware has been reseated, all cables and connections around the monitor and the motherboard are intact.
The only thing i can think of is that the onbaord video on the laptop has failed due to the lack of picture on both the lcd screen and external monitor.
Does this sound right? I notice that things get pretty pricey when replacing motherboards for laptops and im certain she would rather call it a day with this laptop than pay for the repair. So i just want to be sure before returning with the wonderfull news.
