Don't know if this is the right area to post this, but with it being network related, I thought I'd try here. What I'm trying to do is use a MS Access database to view information in a SQL database located on a Windows 2003 server. Now, when I open the Virtual XP PC on my Ubuntu PC, I AM able to access my Redhat server no problems (that is where the Access database frontend is located. However when I try to set up an ODBC link in the Virtual PC, it doesn't seem to recognise the windows servers existence. I DO have a separate laptop running xp pro that I have no problems with accessing the windows server on. Now, on the Virtual PC, I AM able to ping the windows server by BOTH IP and hostname, so the connection works. I am wondering if it's got anything to do with the weird IP setup in the virtual PC. I say weird because the IP address of the virtual pc has NOT been obtained from the dhcp on the router (the IP is 10.0.2.15, gateway/dhcp is 10.0.2.2, but the DNS is 192.168.1.254, which is right). I have to admit that I don't understand how IP addressing works in relation to virtual PCs. However, if it was down to the IP of the virtual pc, how come I can still access the redhat server???? anybody any ideas pls???
