A slow start. How did it start for you?

It really is an important part of your business, you ned to track type marketing spend and also what your website is our is not doing for you.

My business has yet to be unveiled.
I live in a town population 12,000 also add in another 30,000 from surrounding towns and farmers in rural community.

My business will be mobile only.
So far I have a website (in signature)

*By go live date I will have a yellow pages listing / ad - $350.
*I will advertise in our weekly free community paper - $60 pw full column or $30 half column (leaning toward full column) under computer services trade ad. This paper covers entire region of 40,000 folk.
*I'll have car wrapped in logo and business benefits plus contact details.
*I'll have shirts made up and business cards printed w logo and details.
*Plus still to purchase but will have all required tools by go live.

My background is IT Support, but am in between jobs (moved back to NZ from Australia) and decided I'm ready to strike out on my own.

I've heard the local paper and yellow pages are how the locals prefer to find services here (old fashioned, traditional farming folk :-)

Anecdotally I've heard that the chap who has been established here for ten years as the local pc repair, was making around $250,000 per anum, but he had the town to himself then. There will be four IT support tech businesses in total, once I begin offering my services.
