80090019 error

Just had a phone call from a client with this error which is stopping the pc starting:-

0x80090019 "A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. error code: 0x80090019

I know his pc has a genuine copy of windows , he tells me he has not installed any software etc. A search on the net suggests that this is a windows validation error. A few postings on goggle with a similar problem and some suggestions on repairs which have worked for some people but no sure fire solution , other than back up and re-install etc.

I have worked on this pc before and know that there is little data to back up and additional programs to re-install so this might be the answer.

Will be going to see the pc tonight so any one on here had any experience with this error?

Try using Dial-A-Fix to re-register all of the DLL's and also the Windows Update service.

After that, try to get it onto Windows Update and see if it gives any errors.

Otherwise, change the product key (Magical Jellybean should do this) back to his legit key and then try to re-activate it.
