Hi folks,

Let me start by sayin' thanks to all those who PM'd me, asking how me and my family are. :D Thanks, you guys are awesome.

Well, it has been a rocky ride so far. I don't know the exact times or anything, but we were rudely awoken @ around 4.30am Saturday morning. The quake was first predicted at 7.8 by SKY News; our News network predicted at 7.4, but it was then down-sized to 7.1 officially.
It was bigger than the earthquake in Haiti, that wrecked their nation.

Some parts of the city are absolutely fucked. The Central City has been closed off. The army and police are out in full swing (bout 5 on each corner for 20 square blocks). I work @ one of the biggest hotels in the city, and we are one of very few that are open, because luckily our hotel didn't suffer damage. We are full atm, as we have all the guests from neighbouring hotels that have been condemned.

I'm sure most of you had heard the news on it, seen the reports etc .. but heres a few pics anyway for y'all ..

Since it has happened, we have been hit with over 100 aftershocks, measuring from 3 - 5.5 so far.

So I'm not goin' to be on that much, but I will be around :)

God Bless.

Hi Meth, All I can say, is take care my friend. I know we are many thousands of miles apart, but if theres anything we can do, please shout mate.

I have added you, and yours to my prayer list. Not that I am religious, but it cant help.

Take care for now
be safe
nige :)

Martyn, Dunedin felt it, so did Invercargill. No damage there though. It went as far up as New Plymouth in the North Island, if you are familiar with the rest of NZ.

Thanks Cadishead, I'm not religious either, but prayers couldn't hurt right now.

What doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger.

The worst part is the looters of condemned stores and houses. As if they haven't lost enough already, you have to go take there **** ..

Getting to work in the morning is a hassle. My work is right smack bam in the middle of the city, right next to our Cathedral. I have to get my partner to drop me bout 15 blocks away, just outside the cordoned off area, and show my I.D, payslip, name badge and work uniform to @ least a dozen times to the cops and army on my way through.

I'm a firm beleiver in Karma.. what comes round, goes around, and they will get theirs soon.

Just hope it isnt your store which is being affected by it too.
