I've seen both mentioned a bit here and am in need of a logo so my question to you is:
Which did/would you go with, and why?

Followup questions for those that did use either one, or both:
How well did you find the process worked?
Were you satisfied with the results? (maybe rate it on a 1-5 scale)
What amount would you recommend offering? (And if you don't mind sharing, how much did it cost you?)

Are there any other logo designers that you would recommend?

Thanks for all the answers.

I used 48hourlogo for my company logo and I think I got a good design, but I wouldn't do it again.

It is very hard to communicate what you are looking for to some designers because English isn't their first language. I have also seen amazing work and poor quality work from the same designers so getting a redesign or a logo for a new company or brand from the same designer might be hit or miss.

Usually the higher the award the better quality designers/submissions you get.

I commissioned Bryan Vest to get my logo for my computer brand done and during that process I also asked him to do my website for me after a friend of mine dropped the ball. I thought he did a great job on both (you can visit my site and click on products to see the Rodgers Built logo). As of right now I'm not sure if he is active or not here, but I suggest you either send him a PM here or visit his site (bryanvest.com) to contact him.

Paul,
Thanks for your feedback.
I took a look at Bryan's work, and it is quite good.
How much did he charge for the logo? I'm on a limited budget at the moment, so need to keep expenses reigned in, and couldn't find any pricing info on his site.

i have used a different site called crowdspring.com and they were nothing short of excellent!! I only offered $200 for a logo (for a different business) and paid about $40-50 to list and admin etc. we got over 70 different logos in response in about 2-3 weeks. some of them were so good it was hard to choose.

The communication from the designers was superb, and they seem to all be either US or UK based.

10/10 for crowdspring so far

timmymacs,
Thanks for your feedback.
Since initially posting this I have done some further research, and have also been looking at crowdspring.com.
I'm glad to hear you had such a good experience with them.
You have now added another option for me, which is good and bad. Options are good, but which to go with;)

48 hour logo hands down. I paid for my logo upfront was very happy with the designers submissions but remember their designs and communication will only be has good as your input.

gazza,
Thanks for your feedback.
I'm glad to hear you had good success with 48hourlogo. Do you mind sharing how much you paid?
I have a friend that decided to go ahead with them, and I agree, proper feedback is needed. Theirs is kind of a different situation, there are ~6 people involved, each giving feedback individually, and ranking then removing the rankings. Which I am sure is very confusing for the designers. Even so, they are getting some good logo options.
