I have two 2.5'' used laptop hard drives that I have for a couple of months now. Still in working condition. I do not know what to do with them. For business, I have not had any laptop hard drive replacements for 3 months. My past 4 hard drive replacements have been for desktops. I have been thinking about buying an enclosure and turning them both into portable hard drives. Now as soon as I do this. I will get a call about a laptop's hard drive acting funny. What do you think should I buy enclosures to make my portable hard drives?????:)

Get a Zalman if you don't already have one and use one for that. Use the other for a regular external. I would not put a used HDD in a customer's machine.

If they were new I would say put them in enclosures and sell them as backup drives.

I carry a couple of 2.5s for laptop replacements and some inexpensive ($7) enclosures. I put them together as needed. I sell several a week to my mobile clients who aren't backing up. Easy sale plus I bill for the time to set things up with either Windows backup or Syncback. Customer is now backing up, everyone's happy.

Definitely go for the Zalman if you don't already have one. You can carry all your install & utility disks in one small, convenient device. Love my Zalman.

I will not install an used hard drive in a customers laptop. thats just unethical. I will order an enclosure and just hard drive will be in my toolkit for useful utilities or any other sort. Thanks

How am I just hearing about these??

I'm actually in awe, just ordered a VE-300, can't wait till it arrives!

The Zalman is an awesome piece of equipment. It has got to be my favorite tool in my bag. I put a 64 GB Crucial SSD in mine. That thing smokes. Enjoy.
