1st craigslist ad

Looks good, well written and I love your address...420 :p

Your hours are 11-6? Are you sure you're not a banker? :D

Thanks :D My hours are limited atm, because I'm not going to kill myself trying to launch. As business ramps up, so will our hours. We're a 3 man shop, but I'm the only fulltime person, and since I'm the owner, I don't get to just sit back and fix computers any more, I've got tons of other stuff to deal with as well.

Silvano.

Yup, 'cause nothing builds confidence in a Craiglist advertiser than mentioning your drug addictions.

(I know Silvano didn't but I place little trust in those who over-identify with their vices)

haha...well, with an address like 420 Church street he's either going to be popular with the pot heads or the religious folk. Either way, you'll have customers :)

Create an image out of it and just post the image.
Put in a few graphics and get a logo; people like pretty pictures.
Maybe It's just me, but I wouldn't mention that you are "former employees" of anything. "Former Employees" carries kind of a negative connotation with it.

Just my 2 bits.

@Rightontimecomputers you have to host the image somewhere (its on my webserver), then use html and the img tag to link it in the post.
@Housecalls any suggestions of the address is purely coincidental.
@ATTech- I've heard the "former employees" argument a couple of times lately, I'm not sure why its a bad thing, especially if we were THE face of the old company, and were fairly well known. Maybe you could help me figure out a way to put a positive spin on it? I'm trying to keep the old brand recognition intact, and carry that over. I need to reword it on my website as well, once I figure out how to do that right. Thanks everyone, from the looks of it, the copy itself wasn't so bad for my first crack at it?

I happen to really like that ad. I think it has alot of personality. If I was in your area looking for a tech via Craigslist this is certainly an ad I'd respond to.

Just one question. In the ad it states "Our staff have years of experience as AI". What does AI stand for?

Applied Intellect (appliedintel.net) it was the shop we used to run, before we got screwed over by the management.

If you got screwed my them, most likely they screwed over their customers so I would think it's best not to mention them at all. Besides, you are your own entity now, no need to associate yourself with anyone.

We were the face the customers saw and dealt with on a daily basis, and we made sure to take care of every last customer before officially closing the door. The issue was complicated, but only affected us as employees. Maybe you guys are right, and I'm beating a dead horse, but for now, I'd prefer to keep that in the public eye. As we begin to grow, and become our own thing, I'm sure I'll be willing to shed that extra baggage.

I would agree that the use of the word "Former" in an AD is a negative.
To convey the same thought process in a positive way something like this would be better.

While we are new to this location we are firmly rooted in this city, many of you may have met us at @ (the other place) as we were staff technicians there for many years.

We would love to see our old friends so feel free to stop by have a cup of coffee! We are excited to show what we are doing to better serve Kalamazoo in the future.

Thank you! This is what I exactly what I was hoping for! Mind if I play with that and use it Graystar?

That is why I posted it! ;)
Good luck on the new place

P.S. if you are going to invite them over for a cup of coffee, make sure it is good coffee and that you have all the needed accessories and condiments.
Don't skimp on cups and stir sticks as it is the little things that show off your attention to detail.
