1,000,000,000.00 bank heist

This reminds me of the story I read not too long ago that the cybercriminals could have gotten away with a record amount close to a billion, but they made a simple typo that ended up setting off fraud alerts. Amazing how much money is being lost and I'm sure that is a ton we don't even know about yet.

It's interesting there is suspicion that this job is tied to the creator of gameover zeus, and cryptolocker...

Where did you read that? Gameover zeus is not an original creation but rather an adaptation of the original zeus code. I can see them doing cryptolocker but I just can't imagine them pulling off something like this.

"At least one Western cyber security expert Jeremy Rose - creator of security app FaceCrypt - has suggested Bogachev could be behind the $1billion dollar 'Carbanak' heist."

Cyber-security expert Jeremy Rose said: "Bogachev has been accused of being responsible for the Zeus virus, and if that’s true he would certainly have the technical know-how to pull off a big attack like this."

sounds like a reach to me but with as much money as bogachev has anything is possible.

What I really don't understand is that the financial institutions don't keep records of who transfers large amounts of money to where... In other words, it should be impossible to lose a billion dollars. Amazing. Computers can keep track of things at the speed of light. So what is going on here? Curious isn't it...
