Bryce Whitty here from Technibble.com and today I am going to share with you how to refine and strengthen your business over time.

I often see people seduced by stories of businesses that are overnight successes. The media absolutely loves covering these sort of stories and it changes the perspective of what real businesses are about.

For most businesses that are successful, it’s about small, incremental improvements over time.

These improvements could be to improve productivity or maybe even lessen the chances of errors happening.

An example of this could be creating a custom operating system image or hardware firmware to lessen the amount of work you need to do next time.

Maybe you encountered a problem on a system in the field that could occur on all the systems that you manage?

You can update your operating system image or firmware to make sure all future installs are immune from that problem.

A small change like that doesn’t sound like a big deal, but let’s say that issue happened hundreds of computers all at once, it could be a serious time sink.

And it may not just be about something you have to patch, there could be data lost, setups corrupted and other time consuming things.

That’s not even covering the reputation damage that may occur if this issue does end up happening.

It’s little tweaks like that which can improve your productivity allowing you to work faster, or avoid problems completely.

In my own business, we are constantly updating our operations manual. If we hit a problem we’ve haven’t seen before but feel we might again, we change our process to account for that.

We either prevent it from happening again, or have a process in place to deal with it.

In the end you end up with a really robust process. This becomes your businesses “secret sauce”, and it’s a large part of your businesses value is when you are going to sell it.

Those pre-established processes are basically are what all franchises are about.

So again, don’t get seduced by the overnight successes. Don’t feel like you’re failing even if you’re not instantly making it big. It’s about continually refining your systems to become your secret sauce.

That’s it for this video. I hope that helps and thank you for watching.
