Improve Your MSP in Less Time

I want to share a secret weapon that has supercharged my business education in the last few months.

Now and then, we see books suggested in various MSP groups that we should read to help improve our business.
So we grab the name, hop on Amazon and either purchase a physical copy or get it on Kindle.

But then it just sits there for months…

We are busy people and find it challenging to find the time to read, and then we feel guilty for purchasing something we have yet to use.

Late last year, I came across a service called Blinkist, which solved this problem for me.

After reading a book, you probably won’t remember it word for word, but rather, a few key takeaways. Well, imagine getting just those key takeaways without reading all the fluff.
That’s what Blinkist does. It cuts down books to just their key points in a 15-minute audiobook format.

I, too, struggle to find the time to read, but these days I can finish a book just walking back from dropping my kids off at school. Most of the time, I can’t find the time to sit down with a book, but now I can learn while driving or walking.

Sure, in a shortened version, you may miss out on some nuance, but I am getting through books I would have never found the time to read in the first place.

There are very few Managed Services-specific books on the platform, but hundreds of famous business books apply to Managed Services.

Books MSP’s Must Read

I searched for “books that MSPs must read” lists compiled by various groups in the industry and gathered some of their recommendations, which are available to listen to on Blinkist:

Auvik suggests:

  • The E-Myth Revisited – Michael E. Gerber
  • Selling the Invisible – Harry Beckwith
  • Never Lose a Customer Again – Joey Coleman
  • Nudge – Richard H. Thaler and Cass R. Sunstein

Richard Tubb suggests:

  • The Go-Giver – Bob Burg and John David Mann
  • Duct Tape Marketing Revised and Updated – John Jantsch
  • The Referral Engine – John Jantsch
  • They Ask You Answer – Marcus Sheridan
  • The Checklist Manifesto – Atul Gawande
  • Virtual Freedom – Chris Ducker
  • Getting Things Done – David Allen
  • The Power of Full Engagement

MSPToday suggests:

  • Good to Great – Jim Collins
  • The Ideal Team Player – Patrick Lencioni
  • Traction: Get a Grip on your Business – Gino Wickman
  • Scaling Up – Verne Harnish
  • The CIO Paradox – Martha Heller
  • Multipliers – Liz Wiseman

MSP360 & Altera suggest:

  • Be Our Guest – Disney Institute and Theodore Kinni
  • Mindset: The New Psychology of Success – Carol S Dweck

For $12.99 USD per month, or $5.34 per month if you pay annually, it’s an absolute steal.

It has a free 7-day trial you can check out here. I am not affiliated with it, nor getting paid anything to recommend it, I just found it a real game changer in my life and want to share that with you.
