Case Study – How Sending One Newsletter Generated Chris $1728 USD

Shares

In this case study, we’re going to look at how sending one Technibble White-Label Newsletter generated Chris Carruthers $1728 USD in scheduled work.

To introduce Chris, he lives in Ontario in Canada and runs Carruthers Computers. Some of you may already know of him as he is a regular on some computer business related podcasts.

Chris’s Challenge

Like most computer business owners, one of Chris’s big problems is not having enough time in the day. His business takes a large time commitment, but to further reduce his available time he just recently had a newborn son come into the world.

At Carruthers Computers, Chris had already been writing and sending out newsletters in the past, and had experienced increased sales with greater engagement with his customers. His customers loved the newsletters and as more and more people replied to them, it put more pressure on him to write them on a regular basis.

“This became a double edged sword for me – the newsletters brought me work, but the work kept me from writing the newsletters”

He needed to seek out computer business related newsletters that he could white-label. Having been a long time member of the Technibble forums, Chris learned about Technibble’s White Label Newsletter service and went with the “Pro” plan which gives him content for both his residential and business clients.

On January 11th 2017, he sent two Technibble white-label newsletters for the first time. One of the newsletters was sent to his business clients, which was about managed anti-virus and how it differs from free or stand-alone anti-virus products. The other newsletter went out to his residential clients which explained why computers slow down over time.

At the end of every newsletter there is a call-to-action asking for the sale. After explaining the benefits, the business newsletter suggested that the client should sign up for his managed antivirus plan, and the residential newsletter offered a tune-up if the client was currently experiencing a slow computer.

Residential Newsletter Results:

765 emails were sent with 140 (18.9%) of them opened.
This newsletter generated $1,378.91 USD in scheduled work.

Not only that,  $375 of that was reoccurring yearly so he’ll continue to benefit from this one newsletter – potentially for years.

Business Newsletter Results:

Chris has significantly less business clients on his mailing list compared to his residential clients, but of the 60 clients he sent the business newsletter to, 15 of them were opened (25.9%) resulting in $350 USD annual reoccurring.

His total revenue generated by sending just one month of Technibble White-Label newsletters was $1728 USD. His cost for the Pro plan was just $49 USD.

While we cant take all the credit as Chris had already been sending newsletters and building trust beforehand, sending out educational content with a strong offer like in the Technibble Newsletters resulted in a lot of customers converting.
