XP license keys

Hi, i own a few broken laptops and desktops with windows XP keys on them. Is it legal to sell these license keys and what would be a reasonable price for them?

Assuming they are OEM keys; no the key is binded to the hardware.

My understanding is that you can not sell the license keys.This is because they have already been registered with MS. If a buyer tries to use the same key, they would be told it is an invalid key. They would then have to try and purchase anther activation key from MS.

No. Mainly because product key stickers are from OEM computers. OEM is tied to the computer and not supposed to be transferred to another.


M$ rules say you buy the "right" to use a licence key & software.
You never 'own" any MS products, only the legal "rights" to use it.

No, OEM keys come specifically for the hardware bought by the user. The keys just bind your name in the Microsoft Server system as the registered and authorized user of that specific OEM keys.
