Yelp calls me a couple times a month to ask for me to advertise. I always tell them to go pound sand because they have blocked many of my legit reviews because the person isn't active. But I get lots of jobs from yelp by asking my clients after they job is complete if they are active on yelp to write an honest review.
I put all my advertising money into adwords. I spend about $2500 to $3000 a month with google. It is money well spent if you know what you are doing. It sounds like a lot but the amount it brings in makes it worth it. I started slow with $300 a month and raised it as time went on and business increased.
