[REQUEST] Something strange happening with windows7

I have an issue with Windows & start-up. I switch on the laptop, the windows screen appears along with the usual message which tells me windows 7 is starting........ but it doesn't. At the same time the DVD/CD drive is not detected in the BIOS so I can't resort to using factory discs. When I finally get things going (with a bit of jigging around) I find the DVD/CD element is back in the Bios and then the discs work. Everything is then fine until, after a few days, the problem re-appears and the whole process has to be repeated. what's going on. Suggestions welcome.
